How to find a tennis partner in Prague

2 min read

Booking a court in Prague is the easy part. The harder part is finding someone who plays at a similar level, has similar free time and wants to come back next week. Here is an approach that works without wasting time.

1. Describe your game honestly

The most common reason a first game does not work out is a mismatch in level. Describe your game concretely: how long you have played, whether you can sustain a rally, how reliable your serve is, whether you play scored matches. You will find a reference scale on the Find your level page.

2. Write three things

A good first message is short and covers what matters:

  • Your level, in your own words.
  • The part of Prague you can reach comfortably.
  • The days and times you can play.

3. Reach out where people already play

Creating an account on Your Tennis Club is free. Once you are logged in you can find players in the app and arrange a match. The club's Telegram and Instagram let you follow what is happening and introduce yourself.

4. Keep the first game short and relaxed

Agree on an hour and an easy rally. Court time is paid separately, directly to the venue, so decide in advance who books the court and how you will split the cost. Public court booking through YTC is not available yet.

5. If you want regular play, try a tournament

A tournament is a good way to meet several new players at once. You can see what is coming up on the tournaments page.
